What is yoga?

The word Yoga means “to join or yoke together,” and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.

The whole system of Yoga is built on three main structures: exercise, breathing, and meditation. The exercises of Yoga are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems of the body, thereby increasing its efficiency and total health.

Breathing techniques are based on the concept that breath is the source of life in the body. The Yoga student gently increases breath control to improve the health and function of both body and mind. These two systems of exercise and breathing then prepare the body and mind for meditation, and the student finds an easy approach to a quiet mind that allows silence and healing from everyday stress. Regular daily practice of all three parts of this structure of Yoga produce a clear, bright mind and a strong, capable body

Yoga is commonly regarded as a complete system of personal growth. Each session combines postures (asanas) for strength and flexibility; breathing techniques (pranayama), for calming and refreshing the body; and meditation to practice and attain peace of mind. This multi-faceted practice enables each individual to enjoy an enriched and healthier lifestyle and to live in harmony with oneself and with the world.

What is Barre?

Have you ever seen the body of a dancer and wondered how you could get that kind of physique—toned arms and legs, a flat midsection and a tall, posture-perfect stance?

Barre is a total body workout that will reshape your body. You will build lean muscle mass, increase flexibility, increase and improve balance, and improve posture. Building lean muscle burns fat and by increasing flexibility through stretching, you elongate the muscle.

Our Barre classes are designed around traditional yoga and Pilates exercises as well as elements of dance to effectively help you achieve the toning, shaping, and elasticity of your muscles without the bulking that restricts the beautiful fluidity of your natural motion. Classes are available for any level student regardless of their age or fitness background. All the exercises can be modified depending on a your abilities, existing injuries or overall health.
